The tube strike today meant that I abandoned my normal underground journey and took to walking. As I approached Trafalgar Square I re-called the many times I would walk past South Africa House in the 1980′ s to see a faithful group camped outside protesting against the apartheid regime. Walking the same route today there was a huge crowd of expats waiting patiently in line to vote in the presidential election. There were officials from both the ANC and the Democratic front on friendly terms with each other doing there part to encourage those waiting to vote for their respective candidates.
